Ancient Xbox to Xbox Media Center

The reign of the original Xbox has been over for a while now. I haven’t played an actual game on this old console for months, I use it only as a DVD player. I plan on getting an Xbox 360 Elite relatively soon; so the question is, what to do with this older hardware? The solution came to me from the Xbox Media Center Project. Since I will no longer need it as primary hardware, I might as well see whats inside and try to “hack” the box without killing it. (Read the article)

Fun with Google Trends

Recently at the Google Blog, they posted about a new feature on the Google Trends site. The feature shows recent “hot trend” searches at any given time (filtering out searches for adult content and MySpace). I hadn’t been to Google Trends in a while and forgot how much fun it could be. Joost - Now for Friends

Finally! A Joost Invite!

Now that Joost is revving up for major release, they have flooded the beta testers with 1000 invites each. This has helped open up the gates for less “connected” people like myself and through a series of blogs I was able to secure one.

Later I plan to post about my first impressions. Also look for a future post accepting email addresses for invites, should I get a stack of invites to send out myself. If you need one now, it shouldn’t be too hard to find other people sharing their accounts.

Enter Wall Street

If everything else I have done this month wasn’t enough, I took a dip into the stock market this past week to gain some small long-term holdings. A few months ago, I had dreams of running the market and getting some big investments. I was going to time the market (do the impossible) and flip the stocks to make thousands. Luckily, I’m not that impulsive (regardless of how April may appear). Instead of diving in immediately, I prepared myself. This is why I am confident about a new investment. (Read the article)
